Lola Adedokun, the Executive Director of the Aspen Global Innovators Group and co-chair of the Aspen Institute Forum on Women and Girls, has passed away. She was a devoted friend, a well-respected colleague, a teacher, a daughter, a sister, and a proud aunt.
Lola’s tenure at the Aspen Institute underscored the significance of global health and development by implementing innovative, community-led solutions. She provided diverse leaders with the resources necessary to effect enduring change and meaningful change in her capacity as the leader of the Aspen Global Innovators Group. As the co-chair of the Aspen Forum on Women and Girls, she also promoted promising change-makers in the United States and beyond. She was a dedicated advocate for underrepresented communities worldwide, asserting that it was not only a priority but also a responsibility to elevate their voices.
Before joining the Aspen Institute, Lola served as the Director of the African Health Initiative and the Director of the Child Well-being Program at the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation for 14 years. During her tenure, she oversaw over $150 million in grant-making.
Lola was an essential member of the Aspen Institute community, distinguished by her unwavering dedication to justice and opportunity, as well as her profound compassion and sense of humour.
