David McGraw, Chief Financial Officer of the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan passed away on Wednesday, October 16, 2024. He served as the Chief Financial Officer of the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan for seventeen years, commencing in 2004. Despite his retirement, David remained a board member and Audit Committee Chair for numerous portfolio companies in Canada and abroad, representing Ontario Teachers.
David was an active member of the Canadian Chapter of the global Accountability for Sustainability (A4S) CFO Leadership Network, which is a component of the HM King Charles III Charitable Fund Group of Charities. David was also a board member of The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation in Toronto.
David was fervently committed to his family, the development of others, and the pursuit of knowledge. He derived immense pleasure from the relationships he established at the Badminton and Racquet Club of Toronto, Hillsboro Club (Florida), the Royal Canadian Yacht Club (Toronto), and the Harbour Town Yacht Club (South Carolina), as well as on the tennis court. David’s legacy will endure in the minds of those who knew him. He will forever be cherished as a devoted husband, brother, nephew, uncle, teacher, mentor, master storyteller, and exceptional friend.
David Lloyd McGraw Early Life and Education
David was raised in Montreal. He spent the majority of his summer with his companions at Expo 67 when he was eleven years old. This sparked his curiosity about global affairs, international politics, and travel. He received his Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University and his MBA from the Ivey Business School at the University of Western Ontario. He was a member of the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D.) and a Fellow of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario.
David relocated to Toronto following his graduation from McGill University and became a member of the chartered accountancy firm Clarkson Gordon. Following the completion of his MBA, he pursued employment in Vancouver before returning to Toronto to specialize in mergers and acquisitions in both a corporate and advisory capacity.
Funeral Plans
On Saturday, October 19, 2024, a memorial ceremony will be held at the York Cemetery and Funeral Centre, which is located at 160 Beecroft Road, Toronto, Ontario M2N 5Z5. The memorial ceremony and reception will take place after the visitation, which will take place from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Dr. Jennifer Knox, as well as the entire compassionate personnel at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and the Ontario Health atHome team.
