Aajayah Ray, Rashad Nelson & Aaron Willis died in car accident involving Monona PD

For the month of January 2024, the names of persons who were killed in a collision that occurred after a pursuit involving the City of Monona Police Department were made public by the Dane County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Aajayah M. Ray, age 19, of Sun Prairie, Rashad L. Nelson, age 30, of Madison, and Aaron J. Willis, age 30, all of Madison, were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident that occurred on January 1 at approximately 9 o’clock in the evening, as stated in the press statement that was distributed at nine o’clock and sent out on Friday morning.

Near the crossroads of County Highway AB and Femrite Drive in the Town of Cottage Grove, the collision took place to the east of the intersection.

Immediately after this fatal collision, the department made some temporary adjustments to its chase policy in response to the inquiries that were made regarding the specifics of this collision and the circumstances that surrounded it.

Although the Examiner’s Office has stated that all three individuals were pronounced dead at the site, they have also stated that the cause of their deaths and the method in which they occurred are still being investigated. During the third and fourth of January, the autopsies were finished.

According to the announcement, the fatalities are still being investigated by the Examiner’s Office as well as the Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) of the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ).
